State Bishop Harrison Johnson has served as the Senior Pastor of Praise Temple Full Gospel Baptist Church in El Paso, Texas for the past 24 years.  Through his guidance and leadership, the church has grown both spiritually and numerically and most recently, the church recently acquired an edifice located in the Central/Downtown Area that will accommodate our continued growth and allow opportunity to provide ministry and support in our local community.  He is a proven leader with effective church growth, pastoral care and leadership development, experienced with training Pastors, Elders and Ministers along with Church Leadership in this 21st century, gifted in church development and church community involvement which has been gained from again, education and experience.

 

 Bishop Johnson has over 41 years of ministry experience and he is an anointed Pastor, Administrator, Community Leader, Musician, Overseer and Teacher.  Most recently, Bishop Johnson served as the President of the Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance for the El Paso Chapter.

Bishop Johnson is the eldest of 12 children born to the late Dr. Harrison B. Johnson, Sr. and Elder Stella P. (Johnson) Bradley.  There are several siblings that share the same love of ministry and people, all direct attributes of their father and mother, based on the fact that 11 out of 12 siblings serve as Pastors, Elders, Evangelists, Ministers and Deacon. Bishop Johnson has held several positions within the church especially under the leadership of his father such as Assistant Pastor, Director of Christian Education, Minister of Music along with many other positions. He has a love and passion for gospel music that spreads the roots of his family heritage through awesome singing ministry, he was afforded the opportunity to work with legendary figures in the gospel music industry such as the late Reverend James Cleveland and for 15 years, he was a part of the Gospel Music Workshop of America and oversaw the El Paso Chapter.

Bishop Johnson is a very studious man who has excelled in college and graduated with the following degrees:  Masters of Science in Religious Education and Bachelor of Science in Religious Studies and Sociology.  He is continually pursuing his advanced studies with the Joint College of African American Bishops and most recently completed his Episcopal studies with the Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship.  On February 4, 2010, Bishop was consecrated to the office of Bishop within the FGBCFI under the leadership of Bishop Paul S. Morton, International Presiding Bishop.  He currently serves as the State Bishop for New Mexico/West Texas/Colorado and under his awesome leadership; the jurisdiction is continuously flourishing, growing and vastly becoming a spotlight in this part of the vineyard.  Bishop has many sons and daughters in the ministry and those who have come into contact with him, their lives are touched and they are never the same.

Bishop Johnson’s personal mission statement speaks volumes with regard to his determination to please God with every aspect in my life.  To empower and impact those whose lives I come in contact with toward purpose, destiny and pursuit of a Godly life.  To leave a legacy and inheritance for my children, and teach them to do the same for generations to follow.”

In addition to all of the accolades and accomplishments of Bishop Johnson, his greatest accomplishment is being an awesome Husband, Father, and Grandfather.  Bishop Johnson has been married to First Lady Shirlon Johnson for 37 years and they have five children:  Toraino (Toni), Erresha (Benjamin), Chrystal, LeTisha (Chadwick) and Donnay.  In addition, he has been blessed with ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild:  Maresha, Mamontre, Benjamin IV, Cameron, Toraino, Jr,  Benjamin IV, Torail, Chadwick II, Emory and Cameron.
